The past month has been a busy one here at the Palacino house as Derik loves to remind me! I was able to convince him to help me plant 5 trees in our back yard!!!! Boy was that a back breaking project, but with great teamwork we managed to get it accomplished in less than a day. He dug the holes and I went behind him and put the trees in. It has really made a difference in the way our backyard looks. We also managed to put our electric fence around my vegetable garden to keep the dogs out of it.

Let's see while Derik was busy bringing home the bacon I put in all new flowers in our front flower beds along with some decorations and a birdbath for our family of Mockingbirds who have built a nest in our oak tree out front. It's fun to watch them work on their nest.

Derik has been busy cranking out apps for the new Windows 7 phones and has already published 7 since December 28th! Wow amazing! His apps are really cool. He has a ton of other great ideas for apps, in fact he has a whole whiteboard of them not to mention the new ideas he comes up with daily. Must be hard to be so smart :)

While Derik has been busy writing apps I have been busy with my vegetable garden. I got inspired to try a garden out from all of the years watching my grandparents grow things and listening to their stories. So I decided to give it a shot. So far so good. I have planted quite a few different things: tomatoes, peppers, onions, garlic, lettuce, cucumbers, snap peas, carrots, watermelon, canteloupe, and strawberries. I'm hoping we will be able to make some salsa with fresh ingredients from the garden this summer. Maybe we will even get to eat some home grown watermelon for the 4th of July!
